We are seeing increases of many adult diseases in childhood within recent times. High blood pressure, type 2 diabetes and stress just to name a few. So many of these diseases stem from what we eat on a daily basis many of these diseases begin in childhood. Research has shown that children who regularly help prepare and cook meals have healthier diets over time.
Food Matters was developed to help our children, especially teens and tweens make healthier versions of their regular treats.

In mid 2011, the USDA launched a new nutritional graphic, ChooseMyPlate, in an effort to make it easier to make the switch to healthier eating.
