Yellow Fever

We have seen recent calls to make sure you have your yellow fever vaccine. So what is yellow fever?

Yellow fever is an acute viral haemorrhagic disease transmitted by infected mosquitoes. The “yellow” in the name refers to the jaundice that affects some patients.

In Trinidad and Tobago, we vaccinate children at 1 year old to prevent the spread of this disease. It is a very effective vaccine and many countries have not seen recent cases.
